Applications have begun for the 19th International Alanya Stone Sculpture Symposium, which has been held since 2004. Organized in collaboration with the Alanya Municipality, Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University, and the Alanya Tourism Promotion Foundation (ALTAV), the event will take place from November 20 to December 20. During the organization, the public will have the opportunity to observe the sculpture-making process. Artists will showcase sculpture-making techniques in what will become an open-air art center.
JURY MEMBERS WILL SELECT THE ARTISTS
The jury, which will convene in November, will evaluate the participants and determine which artists are eligible to participate in the symposium. During the month-long event, master artists will carve marble blocks to create street sculptures. The finished works will be exhibited on December 20 in an area prepared behind the municipality. Citizens will be able to easily photograph and examine the works of renowned sculptors. Artists wishing to participate in the symposium can complete their application by filling out the application forms on the official website of the Alanya Municipality and sending them to alanyasemp@gmail.com by November 1.
ÖZÇELİK: “WE WILL BE HAPPY TO SEE OUR CITIZENS CLOSE TO ART AND ARTISTS”
Alanya Mayor Osman Tarık Özçelik stated, “Our international sculpture symposium has gained significant importance in Alanya by bringing our people together with this branch of art. The aim of this symposium is to enhance the cultural heritage and artistic identity of the city, make art more accessible to the public, promote Alanya on the international stage, and provide Alanya with high-quality contemporary artworks. This year, we will be delighted to see our citizens intertwined with art and artists in our symposium area throughout November and December.”
